Abrasive Blasting

We specialise in abrasive blasting in Yorkshire, a highly effective method for cleaning, stripping, or altering the surface of various materials. Formerly known as sandblasting, this procedure works by propelling abrasive particles at high velocity to modify the surface.

First, compressed air propels the abrasive material onto the target surface.

Next, the process begins by selecting the appropriate abrasive material, such as glass beads, aluminum oxide, or steel grit, depending on the desired result and the material being treated. Afterward, the chosen abrasive is loaded into a blasting machine or tank.

In the blasting machine, compressed air first mixes with the abrasive material, then blasts it through a nozzle or gun, directing the high-velocity stream onto the surface. As soon as the abrasive particles hit, they immediately strip away contaminants, paint, rust, and other unwanted substances. With each collision, the impact and abrasive nature of the material effectively remove the outer layers. Ultimately, this reveals a clean, prepped surface, ready for further treatment.

The process is highly versatile and can easily be adjusted based on the required intensity and aggressiveness. Typically, it is used in industries like construction, automotive, and shipbuilding, as well as surface preparation for painting. By adjusting the settings, operators can fine-tune the process for specific applications, ensuring it meets the needs of various projects.
